Imagine1day, with generous support from the Costa Foundation, has completed the installation and commissioning of a modern ICT laboratory at Adame Secondary School in Gedeo Zone, South Ethiopia. It has marked a significant milestone in expanding access to quality digital learning opportunities for students and teachers.
The newly established laboratory includes 25 fully configured desktop computers, structured Cat6 network cabling, wall-mounted data outlets, a centralized communication rack, dedicated network switches, and a patch panel designed to provide a safe, organized, and reliable learning environment. The facility has also been designed considering a future expansion, allowing the school to increase its workstation capacity as resources become available.
While serving a school community of 1,764 students, teachers, and staff, the ICT laboratory will strengthen digital literacy, support technology-enhanced teaching, and improve administrative efficiency. Students will gain practical computer skills through hands-on learning, while teachers will have greater opportunities to prepare lessons, access digital resources, and integrate technology into classroom instruction.
The mission has ensured that the ICT laboratory is fully operational before project closeout by implementing practical solutions.
To ensure the laboratory’s sustainable service, Imagine1day has recommended regular preventive maintenance, permanent electrical improvements, installation of UPS and surge protection systems, and the appointment of an ICT laboratory focal person to oversee operations and maintenance. These measures will help safeguard the investment and ensure the facility continues to provide meaningful learning opportunities for years to come.

Restoring Hope Through Safe and Inclusive Learning Spaces in Tigray
Imagine1day, in partnership with UNICEF, is making significant strides in rebuilding the education system for crisis-affected children in the Tigray Region through the ‘Increased Access to Protective, Inclusive Learning Opportunities for Crisis-Affected Children in Tigray Region’ project, with funding from the Government of Finland.
Since December 15, 2025, the project has focused on restoring essential educational infrastructure across four woredas: Raya Chercher, Zata, Korem, and Adi Haqi. Following a comprehensive baseline assessment to identify the most urgent needs, four severely damaged primary schools were prioritized for rehabilitation: Qarsole and Baso Primary Schools in Raya Chercher, Musie Nselam Primary School in Korem, and Dinqa Primary School in Zata.
The project has transformed these schools into safer, more inclusive, and child-friendly learning environments. Rehabilitation works included 16 classrooms, enabling thousands of children to return to quality learning spaces. To promote dignity and improve school attendance among adolescent girls, four Menstrual Health Management (MHM) rooms, each equipped with a 1,000-litre water storage tank, were constructed. In addition, the project strengthened WASH services by rehabilitating five latrine blocks, three water points with 5,000-litre storage tanks, and one hand-dug well, ensuring reliable access to safe water for students and staff.
These investments are creating lasting change for 2,463 students, including 1,200 girls, while providing 72 teachers, half of whom are women, with a safe, dignified, and inclusive teaching environment. Beyond restoring infrastructure, the initiative is helping communities rebuild resilience and ensuring that children affected by crisis can continue learning in environments that support their well-being, protection, and future success.
Building Data-Driven Decision-Making with Power BI
Imagine1day Strengthens MEAL Capacity Through Practical Power BI Training
In July 2026, Imagine1day conducted a Practical Power BI Training at TK Hotel, Bishoftu, Oromia, bringing together 24 MEAL, program, communication, finance, and grant staff from regional and country offices. The training aimed at strengthening organizational capacity in data analysis, visualization, and evidence-based decision-making.
The hands-on training equipped participants with practical skills to transform raw program data into interactive dashboards that support informed management decisions. Using actual Imagine1day datasets, participants learned data quality management, Power Query, data modelling, DAX calculations, and dashboard design, moving beyond traditional spreadsheets toward dynamic reporting tools.
A key innovation of the program was its integration with the Imagine1day Learning Management System (LMS). All learning materials, laboratory exercises, assessments, and reference resources remain available online, enabling participants to continue learning long after the face-to-face sessions concluded. The LMS also facilitated digital pre- and post-tests as well as participant feedback, creating a sustainable and traceable learning ecosystem. Beyond technical skills, the training highlighted the importance of data quality, standardized reporting, and continuous learning. Discussions during the closing session emphasized integrating Power BI dashboards into routine program reviews and strengthening organizational capacity through follow-up coaching, advanced Excel training, and responsible use of AI for humanitarian analytics.
This initiative marks an important milestone in Imagine1day’s digital transformation journey, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to using high-quality data for improved program performance, accountability, and better outcomes for children and communities across Ethiopia.
LiTE Biannual Regional Joint Monitoring and Review Meeting Strengthens Coordination in Afar
The LiTE Biannual Regional Joint Monitoring and Review Meeting was conducted in Semera, Afar Region, to assess project progress, strengthen collaboration, and chart priorities for the next phase of implementation together with key education and child protection stakeholders.
43 participants attended the meeting, representing the Regional Education Bureau (REB), school principals, the Regional Women and Social Affairs Bureau, the Bureau of Labor and Social Affairs (BoLSA), Imagine1day Country Office, regional LiTE implementation staff, and the Program Management Unit (PMU).
Participants reflected on the implementation progress across the reporting period, examined key performance achievements, shared lessons learned, identified implementation challenges, and discussed practical solutions to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of project interventions.
Through open dialogue and collaborative planning, stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to improving coordination among implementing partners and government institutions. The meeting concluded with a shared set of priority actions to strengthen project delivery, enhance monitoring and accountability mechanisms, and ensure timely implementation of planned activities during the upcoming reporting period.
The review meeting emphasized the importance of strong partnerships and regular joint monitoring in advancing review quality, education, and child protection outcomes across the Afar Region. By fostering collective ownership and evidence-based decision-making, the LiTE project continues to reinforce collaboration with regional government counterparts and local stakeholders to achieve lasting impact for children and their communities.
