Imagine1day and Kotebe University of Education Sign MoU to Strengthen Education Quality in Ethiopia
Imagine1day has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kotebe University of Education, marking an important step forward in strengthening Ethiopia’s education system. The agreement was signed by Dr. Seid Aman, CEO of Imagine1day, and Dr. Teshome Nekatibeb, President of Kotebe University of Education.
This strategic partnership will focus on teachers’ professional development, strengthening school leadership, improving student learning outcomes, advancing education leadership, and enhancing research and knowledge generation. Following the signing ceremony, teams from both institutions held productive discussions around their shared vision to transform poorly performing schools in terms of learning outcomes and improve the results of students in the high national Grade 12 examination, which determines students’ entrance into higher education in 700 targeted high schools across the country.
The ceremony was held in an inspiring and optimistic atmosphere, reflecting a strong commitment to improving education quality and equity nationwide. This collaboration is expected to create a lasting impact for students, teachers, school leaders, and communities across Ethiopia.
Expanding Access to Quality Education in Oromia
Imagine1day has also signed a new MoU with the Oromia Education Bureau to expand access to quality high school education across the Oromia Region. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Tola Bariso, Head of the Oromia Education Bureau; Dr. Seid Aman, CEO of Imagine1day; senior bureau officials; and members of Imagine1day’s country office team.
Through this partnership, six new high-quality high schools will be constructed in selected zones of the region. Once completed, these schools will significantly improve access to secondary education for thousands of students who currently face limited opportunities.
This initiative builds on Imagine1day’s 18 years of experience in Ethiopia’s education sector. To date, the organization has constructed 214 primary and secondary schools nationwide. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to transforming education and creating lasting opportunities for future generations in Oromia.
